It’s Finals Time December 4, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — sbsullivan @ 2:09 am

Every student’s most dreaded time of the year has approached… FINAL EXAMS! This year I only have to take four. I was able to exempt one, so I’m relieved for that class. I like my schedule of exams and feel it will give me enough time to adequately prepare for each of them. I have one on Monday, two on Wednesday, and one on Thursday. I’m currently studying for my exam on Monday, will use part of the weekend and Tuesday to study for my Wednesday exams. Thursday’s exam isn’t one I can really study for. I am a very visual learner. I study by writing by notes and reading them aloud. I have a large dry erase board in my room I often use for note-taking. I try to keep my head clear and not stress about my final grades. I have found I am more successful on my exams when I am simply worried about the task at hand, rather than the end result. I only have one class I am worried about this semester, so that’s a relief.  I’ve got lots of “study snacks” on hand for when I get those salty or sweet cravings. On the list is popcorn, chocolate chip cookie dough (by the tub), V8 Splash, French Onion Dip, and Ruffles. Now all I need is a really high metabolism and some good workout videos!

Thanskgiving… A Time to Give Thanks November 20, 2009

I have so many things to be thankful for. I try not to just let it be the one day a year I give thanks. I come from a loving home with two wonderful parents and an adorable ten year-old brother. I was blessed to have the opportunity to go to a religious school from elementary school to my freshman year of high school. I have a faith foundation that is strong and a wonderful church that is my second family. I am thankful for the many friends I have and how they are there for me in any situation. I am SO thankful I can go to college and get a top dollar education. I’m glad I can walk around without fear of being targeted because I am a woman. In the United States I have so many freedoms that over half over the world does not have. I am passionate about the United States and grateful for our forefathers who founded this nation.

Goooooo Eagles!! November 13, 2009

This week my blog post topic is school spirit. I am a True, Blue, Georgia Southern Eagle. I am passionate about my university and show it in my actions. One way I personally show my spirit is my various affiliations with Georgia Southern. I have been involved in many different organizations on campus. A few of these are BUILD, Southern Ambassadors, LeaderShape, Football Recruitment, Grand Slam Marketing, and Campus Recreation and Intramurals. Each of these organizations benefit Georgia Southern and its students. Southern Ambassadors is probably the best way I show my school spirit. I get to talk to hundreds of students and parents interested in Georgia Southern. I am able to show my spirit through this organization. I put in many hours of my time for free.

I also enjoy going to sporting events. I have been to every home football game except two since I’ve been a student here. I think we are so lucky that we are able to attend all of the games so I take advantage of it. I also enjoy going to baseball and basketball games. The men’s are women’s basketball teams are playing tonight at Hanner. Check out their full schedule.

My classmate, David Zaremba, wrote a blog post about the hassles of registering for classes.  I want to second his thoughts and say it’s time for a change in the PR Department!

Check out his post at:

I’ve Been Bitten By the Vampire Craze

My favorite books as of right now are the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer. I was very reluctant to start reading these books because I thought it was plain weird. I was finally convinced, and now am obsessed! I’m on my third time reading through them. They combine humor, romance, and action into one book.

I just got my mom started on reading them two weeks ago. I gave her the first two books, and she’s already read both. She can’t wait for the most recent movie, New Moon, to be released. She’s waiting to read the next two books after she sees the movie.

Reading is one of my all time favorite hobbies. It’s hard to be consistent with reading non-school related text books during the school year, but over the breaks, I will make up for lost time. This past summer I read around 30 books. Sometimes I’ll go through a whole one in one day. I am a nerd, but I can’t help what I enjoy to do.

Halloween Festivities October 30, 2009

With Halloween only one day away, excitement is buzzing in the air. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I love the fall air, the costumes, and the trick-or-treating. My neighborhood growing up was very hilly and didn’t have any sidewalks. We always went to the North Georgia Outlet Malls to trick-or-treat.  The stores gave out the best candy and coupons for Mom and Dad. I think that’s a pretty smart idea. My parents still take my ten year-old brother there. This year he is Jawa, a character from Star Wars. I’ve had a wide variety of costumes. To name a few, I’ve dressed up as Dorothy, a gypsy, an angel, a 1950’s girl, a dalmation, and many others. I love dressing up. This year I will have two costumes. One is a referee, and the other has not been decided yet. It’ll be a last minute thrown together costume. You might be wondering why there is a need for two costumes. Here in Statesboro, Halloween is at least a two night celebration. For most it’s usually three nights, especially when Halloween falls on Saturday.

My Dream Job October 23, 2009

My dream job is to be a famous singer. I love to sing (though I can’t) and do so often. If I could sing in front of thousands of people, I would be content. I would sing many different genres of music, but mostly country and pop. I’d like to be known as Taylor Swift’s role model. I feel like I would be a huge success. With my profits, I would like to either start my own charity or become an active member of one that is already established. I would donate my time and money to this organization. I would also enjoy doing charity concerts to raise money for a variety of causes.
