I like to think I am a very tolerant person, however, there are some things that really get me going.

I think the one that bothers me the most is when I go through a drive thru or call in a to-go order from a restaurant and they get my order wrong. Most of the time I check before I pull away, but if there is a big line behind me or I’m in a rush, I will leave  checking.  When my order is wrong I get so frustrated. This is their job, and usually they have a screen right in front of them with step by step instructions on what should or should not be in the order.

Another one is when people are slow. Driving, working, walking, anything…. It absolutely drives me nuts. I am a very fast-paced person, so I try to take that into consideration if I start to get annoyed with someone, but when it’s excessively slow, and it’s affecting my performance, I can’t stand it!

If I Could Pick the Next Concert for GSU… October 9, 2009

I absolutely love Taylr Swift. I am a HUGE fan. I have been to two of her concerts and I can say she is an excellent performer. I know she has performed at Georgia Southern before, so that may not be a reality… How disappointing. Below is a video of T-Pain and Taylor Swift. She raps with him and all the lyrics make fun of herself. I think it is hilarious. I heart Taylor Swift.

The Goo Goo Dolls would be my next pick. They sing many of favorite songs, and I’ve heard they are great performers. I think they are a band that many people would appreciate and relate to. They performed at West Georgia a few years back, so maybe they would be affordable for us to host. I hope so.

How Do I Feel about the Health Reform? Good Question… October 2, 2009

I honestly am not sure how I feel about the health reform. My lack of opinion is due to my lack of knowledge. I know bits and pieces about the current situation, but not enough to make a fully educated statement about how I feel one way or another. I think it is important for changes to be made, because the previous system had many glitches, but I do not think spending millions of dollars that we DON’T have is the best fix right now. Many people share this opinion with me. For example, an article on Guardian New’s website shows many lobbyists protesting against the reforms.

In Obama’s defense he stated, “‘I know some folks say we should focus on fixing the economy instead of on health insurance reform. … But I also believe that health insurance reform is absolutely critical to fixing our economy. It’s how we’ll encourage more entrepreneurs to take a gamble on a good idea. It’s how we’ll make sure that if they do, they’ll be able to cover the costs of insuring their employees,” at a Democratic Governors Association fundraiser in Washington. Comment on Sean Runyan’s blog

After reading Sean Runyan’s post about the preference of a boxing match vs. a UFC fight, I commented that I prefer neither. Nothing could be less enjoyable to me than watching two men beat each other to a pulp. If I’m going to watch someone box, I like to do so on Wii Sports because no blood is shed.

My Favorite TV Show

When asked what my favorite TV show is, I have no problem answering. Friends wins by a long shot. I began watching the show when I was in high school. I didn’t follow the seasons because I was always busy with sports and other extracurriculars. However, I saw plenty of episodes on the re-runs TBS played nightly. Now I have all ten seasons and watch them daily. I have seen every episode at least four times. Some people may call me obsessed, but I feel the correct terminology is dedicated.I love the humor in this show. Each of the six characters have a different style of humor, and combined, the result is a hilarious show that keeps me laughing even if I’ve seen the episode ten times.

My favorite show that is currently running is Grey’s Anatomy. When this show first began, I did not follow it. My freshman year of college, all of my roommates were avid fans of the show. When they learned I had never seen an episode, they rented every season from Blockbuster, and thus began my addiction to this wonderful show. I now own the first and second seasons and am working on getting the next two. I enjoy watching Grey’s because there is romance, medical drama, and humor involved in one show. What more could you ask for? Plus, who doesn’t appreciate the beauty of McDreamy and McSteamy?

Other shows I enjoy are Law and Order: SVU, Everybody Loves Raymond, and NCIS.

Interesting News Article… Or a Space Filler? September 21, 2009

On the USA Today’s website, I found an article titled “Personalized spam attacks target small businesses.” After reading the article, I wondered if it was really newsworthy. On one hand, it is very important for businesses to be wary of spam, but on the other hand, is this really the best outlet for that information?

Condoleezza Rice September 12, 2009

On Tuesday, September 8th, Condoleezza Rice came to Georgia Southern University to speak. The Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement along with Target, AT&T, and several other organizations sponsored her to come. The speech was composed of thirty minutes of her speaking on the importance of leadership and thirty minutes of a Question and Answer session. These questions were all presented by students. Rice was very thorough in her answers. She is an excellent public speaker. She was clear, avoid verbal pauses, and seldomly looked at her speaking notes. I would pay money to hear her speak again.

I recently read Sean Runyan’s blog post that states he is going to cover the Blue Goose, a student-run organization in our Public Relations Writing Class.  I am excited to learn more about this organization by reading Sean’s blog.

Campus Safety August 21, 2009

In response to the following questions, What do you think about break ins on and around campus? What can Georgia Southern do to make you feel safe?, I feel that break ins off campus are more common than those on campus. I feel there are more safety measures taken on campus. For example, there are emergency poles scattered through out campus, there are constantly policemen patrolling the area, and campus is well-lit. Also, at SOAR (the freshmen orientation session), all students are taught the number for campus safety, which is located on campus.
